SORRY, BUT ONLINE REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.  You may still register on site, but please arrive so it can be completed prior to 9:15 in order to play in Round 1 of games.  

 

Location:  Colonial Elementary School, 230 Flourtown Road, Plymouth Meeting, PA  19462

Date: Saturday November 17, 2018

Time: 10:00 AM to approximately 2:00 PM

This tournament has five different sections to accommodate players of differing ages and skills.  Children play against opponents in their section.  The first round begins at 10:00AM for all sections.  The tournament concludes around 2:00PM and is followed by an awards ceremony where the top players and schools receive trophies.  

Pre-registered players should arrive no later than 9:45AM.  All games are non-elimination.  Every player participates in all four rounds depending on his or her section.  

Sections:   

K-4 U-200 Section (Beginners Section) This section is for Grades K to 4 for children that are unrated or rated under 200.

K-6 U-400 Section This section is for Grades K to 6 for players rated between 200 and 399 and/or unrated players in Grades 5 or 6.

K-12 U-600 Section  This section is for Grades K to 12 for players rated between 400 and 599 and/or unrated players in Grades 7 to 12.

K-12 U-900 Section  This section is for Grades K to 12 for players rated between 600 and 899.

K-12 Championship Section (Most Advanced Section) This section is open for players Gades K to 12 rated 900 or higher.  It is also open to lower-rated players that want more of a challenge.

   

 

 

 

United States Chess Federation (USCF) membership is required for all participants, and can be purchased along with tournament registration. Or you may purchase/renew your membership online at www.uschess.org. There will be free game analysis for all players by National Master Peter Minear. Online registration is $36 before midnight Wednesday, Nov 14 or $40 before noon Friday, Nov 16.  On-site registration is $45, and is available until 9:15AM in order to Play in Round 1.  (Players may still register after that, but they will miss the first round.)  Chess sets are provided, but bring a clock if you have one.   For players using chess clocks, the time control is G/25 with a 5-second time delay.   

Regarding Byes....If you anticipate that you will not be there in time, or need to leave the tournament early, please indicate which game(s) you will be missing. Your child will NOT be paired for those games which you indicate you want a Bye.  The player receives a half-point for the skipped game, and will be paired as usual for the other rounds.  Players may take a maximum of two half-point Byes in a four round tournament.  Additional Byes will be zero points. Byes must be scheduled before a tournament begins.
